CSI Case File # 49

Well,  I've been at it again.  I have completed CSI Case File # 49  - just in time!  I don't usually scrap this much, but I have been enjoying it.

This is the Case File, found  at http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-49-case-closes-on-december-16-2012

and here is the layout I completed:

I am really digging into the old photos for these challenges!  This is Alyssa's first Santa photo and she is 13 now!  Once again I have used bits and pieces from my scraps, the CSI coordinates and a few other bits and pieces.  I really love how CSI give you co-ordinates that you can print out and use for your layouts.

Now on to Case File # 50.  Hope I get time to finish this one this week, but  we do finish up work on Friday for 3 weeks, I should be able to.  But the trouble is then there will be Case # 51 and then # 52.  Think I might have to have a break, especially as I am going away for 2 weeks.

Looking forward to visiting my daughter and her 2 children and also my son and his lovely wife.
Poor DH has to stay home and look after the animals!  He will go away and visit our son and his family once I come home and am back at work.  One day we will be able to take a holiday together.  The cost of having the animals boarded is so prohibitive.  Just one more reason why I didn't want another dog!  We wouldn't be without him now, but still...

CSI Case File # 48

Third time lucky?

I have tried to post this twice already and it just disappears on me!

So - I have just completed my first LO with one of the CSI case files!  I am thrilled.

I was bemoaning that my mojo had disappeared and along came the new CSI case file.  I looked at it, looked through my photos, looked through my stash to match up the colours as best as I could, found a sketch, printed out some of the coordinates and before you know it, I had a LO!

The photos are quite old - my grandson, who is the star of the show, is 10 this week!

This is the Case File:
http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-48-case-closes-on-december-9-2012

I took poetic licence with the sketch:

http://pagedrafts.blogspot.com.au/p/3-x-photos.html

And here is my layout:

The evidence:  Clock, transparent element (which is also the clock - two for the price of one!) and also silver metallic element, which is the tag.  The tag says Sunshine and has been in my stash for a long time!  :-)  Some of the papers have been in my stash for a long time too.  The background paper is showing up as blue, but it really is more of a grey, which is one of the colour elements.

The testimony:  Glossy brad bullets - I cheated here a bit - I dimensional magiced the dot points on the tag.  Not sure if the brads count here.
Also recipe journalling - I listed what was on top of Thomas' icecream.

So there we have it.  I can't say I am in love with the LO, but hey, I scrapped!

Thanks for looking. xx

Scraptherapy's November Sketch

For what it is worth, this is my interpretation of the sketch.  It has been sitting on my desk for a couple of weeks now, and I have pulled it to pieces and done it again, so this is IT!

A little bit of craftiness

Over on Scrap Therapy, Karen did a post of making an advent calender with match boxes.  Well, I don't do advent calendars, but Lee-Anne said how they would make a lovely little jewellry box for a little girl.

Well, that put the sparkle in my eyes!

Off to the supermarket to buy matches - lots of boxes of them!  Hope Woolworths didn't think I was a pyromaniac or something!  I bought what they had, but will have to buy more, as I want to make 3 of them.

Here is the first one, almost finished.  I still want to mod podge it and then when I have them all finished I will decide who gets which and put their names on it.

I am certainly thrilled with my first attempt.

This is the top.

And this is one of the sides.

Cute, or what?

Thanks Karen!

Scraptherapy's October Sketch Challenge

As usual, I loved Mandy's sketch and here is in interpretation.  I started the layout at mini retreat in Babind and then finished it off at hom.  I didn't really do much more to it.  One of my "experiments" went wrong so I had to fix that, and then I decided to leave well enough alone!

The photo is of Nim as a puppy - he looked so cute with his toys - and he was about the same size!

Mini Retreat in Babinda

Well, it seems like a long time ago now, but what a fabulous weekend I had in Babinda with everyone at our mini retreat at Scrap Therapy!

I stayed with my good friend Nerida (my partner in crime) in Cairns and we travelled to Babinda on Saturday morning.   It was so good to catch up with Lee-Anne and Danny.  Their daughter Tara was there, as was the grandson Declan.  I had met Tara previously - not that she remembered - and Declan is just so cute!

There were 8 of us in the crop room - a really good number and to scrap with a shop at your disposal is just amazing!!!!  I did show SOME restraint (DH sitting on my shoulder!  He so doesn't understand! :-() and was quite happy with the end results.

Lee-Anne gave some classes with some great techniques and ideas.  All in all, a great weekend.

Funnily enough, it reinforced that I don't miss Cairns one little bit.  I miss the people, but not the place.

Oh yes - I revisited my old work place and got to see most of  the people I used to work with.  Lots of changes, lots of new faces, but so good to catch up with the "old" faces.

Now to show what I did at retreat.  I have a few still up my sleeve - I think they might need a bit of titivating before I show them!

This was one of the classes.  It was using the leaf stencil and an ink pad swiped over the page to make your own background.  What I found amazing was that I had these photos in my pile to scrap and they were perfect!

Another class - we swiped a paint dabber over the background (the lid came off mine hence the big blob down the bottom!)- we made the tag and 3 different flowers.  One of the them is with a sticky backed foil - amazing!

This one is with one of my Lime Tart kits.  It is a shameless scraplift, but also amazingly different!
The photo was supposed to be of the track through the forest, and when it was printed, there was a little face in the corner! Everyone else plays Where's Wally - we play Where's Livvie!

This one is my gorgeous grandson Thomas.  The layout was inspired by White with 1 this month.  The criteria was white with yellow and stars.    I love how it turned out.

This is a photo of my eldest, beautiful granddaughter Caitlin.  A real tom boy.  At least I got to use pink, as she had a pink top on!

This is one I have long wanted to scrap.  It is from scrappy camp 18 months ago.  I have been waiting for music notes!  And the shop had this die - Lee-Anne said she had to try it out before she sold it, so I was lucky, wasn't I?  (The title came about because on that weekend, I had a silly ditty going through my head - it ends with, "But......we all know frogs go....La Di Da Di Da!" and of course our whole table ended up singing it!   I think the other girls got a tad tired of it.  When we came back after having these photos taken, we all found little cut out frogs at our places!  I can't actually find my frog  at the moment, but will put it on the layout when I find it.)

Thanks for looking.  I will put the others up when I finish titivating. x

Black with 2

I recently completed a layout inspired by Black with 2.  The criteria was black with purple and mint green.  I have long wanted to scrap this photo of Liv doing "nymnastics", and as she was wearing a purple top, it was the perfect opportunity.

I don't enter the challenges, just complete the layout.  It also challenges me to use what I have on hand and not go out and buy new stuff, hence not a not of product!

I also completed a layout for Karen's Spring Recipe challenge on Scrap Therapy -
and here is the layout I did for this.

It was crazy - I saw an ad on TV that had the stripes across it and for some reason I just HAD to do that!  I decided corrugated cardboard was the way to go, but did we have any at home?  No!  So I had to wait until I went to work the next day and hope the cleaners hadn't been through before I got there!  The ad on TV had the logo masked in the stripes and that is what I tried to do with the title.  A bit of a fail there, as I could just as easily put the stickers over the top.  Oh well, live and learn.  The flowers were from our garden and when I saw we had to use yellow - Bingo!  I used a few bits and pieces from a RAK I received a little while ago, as they fit right in with my colour scheme.

And now no more scrapping until my weekend in Cairns/Babinda.  I need to start sorting out photos to take and get them printed.

Getting a tad excited!

Now lets hope I don't lose this blog!  I did one on Sunday and I lost it.

It's a miracle!

Well, make that 2 miracles.  Firstly - 2 blogs in the one day, and secondly I completed a layout in one morning!
This layout is for the September Sketch Challenge on Scrap Therapy - http://www.scraptherapy.com.au/forum/viewforum.php?f=369

The photo I have used is an old one.  We had not seen this photo until a few months ago.  One of our nieces had it in her stash.  It was taken on one of their visits to us in Cairns.  Goodness knows where it was taken, but it was a real blast from the past to see the photo.  Hence the title!  It was also a blast from the past using the old Making Memories rub on alphabet!   They were just what I wanted for my page.

My stamping needs improvement, but I kind of got the effect I was looking for.  At the moment I am just keen to partake in the challenges.  I wish I could do more of them, but I never seem to find the time during the week, and so much else needs to get done on the weekends.

Thanks for looking.  xx

Back again!

Well, it's been a little while, but here I am back again.

Once again, nothing exciting to report.

I had to start work early 4 out of 5 days last week, and lucky for me, I managed to get out of staying back as well!  It would have been a long day otherwise.  Being an early bird, the early starts don't worry me, and it was actually good to have the extra time so I could get to use the printer.  We were down to one printer most of the week so that made life difficult, and when I print, I usually am printing heaps and I get other people's stuff in the middle of my printing!  So to have the printer to myself was pure joy!

The weather was pretty crappy all week, but the weekend hasn't been to bad.  I should be out enjoying some sunshine instead of being inside on the computer, but I do believe we are going out in the garden this afternoon, to plant the rose bushes and fruit trees we bought at the markets last week.  I can get my sun then.

I did heaps of washing yesterday - it was fine and the breeze was blowing, so everything got dried and fluffed in extra quick time!  The towels feel like they came out of the drier and my work clothes don't need to be ironed.  BONUS!!

Have a layout to share.  It is based on a sketch I saw that took my fancy.  I am naughty and forgot to note who's sketch it was, but as I am not entering into anything, perhaps it is OK.

Once again, a photo of my with my gorgous daughters!  Sarah is a good one for taking "selfies".  Again I used Glitz Pretty in Pink - I love this range.  I have made the pink and white flowers using Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die - I just love that die!  The leafy swirl is also a die - Cheery Lyn Designs Fanciful Flourish - I think it could become one of my favourites!

I am slowing learning to put a bit more on my page, but I also don't like spending a lot of money, so I tend to make do with what I have.

My girls know what the title means.

Mind you - when I go to Cairns/Babinda for my scrap weekend - watch out Scrap Therapy shop!  I think I might just take photos and my dies and buy the papers etc there!  This trip is my tax refund treat to myself and I have been holding off buying anything until I get up there!  I looked in the shop last week and there are lots of goodies I want, so I hope they all don't sell out before I get there!

A couple of weeks ago I tidied up my scrap desk - it looked so good I took a photo, so will share on here!

Also another share I haven't posted on my blog before - a layout I did for a Just For Fun Challenge at Scrap Therapy - http://www.scraptherapy.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=368&t=11318

Two of my gorgeous grandchildren!  Mwah!  Going to take a trip to see them over the Christmas/New Year break - looking forward to that!

That's it for this time.  Hubby has gone to the markets so after I hang out a load of washing, I am going to get dressed and start scrapping!  The new challenges are up on Scrap Therapy!  Yay!!

xx

Another week gone

Well another week gone!  It's almost the end of the month too, so another month gone.  I don't know where the time is going.

Nothing spectacular happened this week - same ole, same ole.

The dogs went to the groomers and Nim is acting funny again.  I don't know what happens at the groomers but for about a week after, he runs around like someone is chasing him!

The groomer said Cilla doesn't like her.  She (the groomer) said Cilla thinks she is a princess and I treat her like a dog!  I think I will change groomers - of course Cilla is a princess!

It has taken me all week to finish one scrapbook page and a set of two cards!

The cards were done for Scrap Therapy's Just For Fun Card Challenge.  I have probably shamelessly scraplifted Julie's cards, but what the heck?  I just love doing the challenges.

http://www.scraptherapy.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=368&t=11324

Here are my cards:  The criteria was to use shades of the same colour.  I love the colour combo, and to think I used scraps (apart from the base) and the ribbon, flowers and ric ric were in my stash.  I am not sure about the sentiment though.  I originally thought male cards, but I really wanted to use the little flowers, so of course that ruled out male cards.  I only have to change the sentiment, so will see.

I was looking for a challenge - I tried to do Kraft It Up, but the papers and sketch I had out just weren't doing it for me and while I was browsing the net, I came across Black with 2 and it just spoke to me.  Here is my effort.  The photo is of Olivia when she was about 6 months old.  Again I have used scraps!  Cheap scrapper!  And I got to use some Washi tape!  I splattered the background with some watered down aqua paint and also coloured the while flowers slightly.  I like the end result.  I know - I am a VERY plain scrapper, but I am the one who has to like it in the long run!

Until next time. xo

Update?

Well, nothing much has happened to update, but I do want to try and be a regular or even semi regular blogger!

The weekend was magic.  The weather was absolutely glorious.  After the markets on Saturday, we came home and made coffee and sat out on the deck to enjoy it and the sunshine!  Love soaking up the rays - especially after the doctor told me a couple of weeks ago that I was deficient in Vitamin D!
I thought coming from the tropics I would still have a store, but apparently it depletes rather rapidly.

Dinner on Saturday night was great - a little toned down as the young fella had fallen off a bed and cracked his head, but it was decided that we had to eat anyway, so dinner went ahead.  As it became increasingly obvious he was going to be just fine, we decided to have a drink or two and a game of cards.  That makes for a great night!

Sunday we all decided we would go to Deloraine and have lunch at the 50s diner there.  I have never been but have been hearing a lot about it, so was keen to go.  It is halfway home for Shaz, so a win win situation!  Got there to find it closed for their winter break!  Never mind - still have the experience to look forward to.

We went to the park so the kids could let off some steam, and ended up buying burgers and milk shakes (I think we all had burgers and shakes in mind for the 50s cafe!) and ate in the park.  It worked - we were all still together and the kids were happy.

I had charged up my camera ready to take, but forgot it!  I think I had it in mind I would use the camera on my new phone!  Tareq bought me a  smart phone for my birthday (a little early) and I LOVE it!

No scrapping has been done - I am trying to use some of the papers from the past couple of kits I have received, but they just aren't working for me.  They are too bright.  I sanded the papers down and they are more muted, but I am still not happy.  I think I will just give it up as a bad joke.  I have been disappointed in these kits.  The first one I loved!  It was Glitz Pretty in Pink so that is when I signed up for the 6 months!  I thought they would all be similar - paper, alphas and bits and pieces  but they haven't been, and three of them have been so bright I have struggled to work with them.  The last one wasn't too bad, but I still haven't even unpacked it to have a good look, but seeing it on the site it seems OK. I have one more to go, so I hope I like next month's kit or it is going to have been a huge waste of money.

I think I am going to be better off buying a whole line from a certain online store!  But then I keep on telling myself I have so much paper etc I could probably scrap for a year and not have to buy anything.

I really need to update my blog layout, but will have to find the time to sit down and do it.

Another week gone!

Oh joy - it's Saturday!  Haven't poked my head outside yet to see what the weather is like.  Lets hope it is an improvement on yesterday, when it rained all day!  I know we have been lucky with winter so far, but even so, I have had enough of the rain.  Luckily the cold doesn't bother me, but then I guess I am not in it much, what with being in the house and then work.

We are off to the Burnie Farmer's markets this morning.  It seems that I haven't been there for such a long time.  I am sure it is going to be squelchy after all the rain!  Times like this when I wish I had some gum boots!

Shaz is coming up from Launceston after work today.  It has been way too long since we have seen her.   She knows when to time her visit!  We have a roast pork dinner planned.  We are going over next door -  we will cook the pork in the weber and Vickie is going to do the veges.  (She does the BEST roast vegies!) I am going to do cauliflower au gratin and Paul has made a black forest cheesecake.  The dinner is in celebration of Tareq's birthday.  We were going to have it last Friday, but with everyone sick and Tareq jet lagged, we decided to postpone it until this weekend.

I have my "relief" at work now - we had a few mishaps yesterday, but nothing too disastrous.  The new phone was installed yesterday afternoon, so now I have to show Natasha how to use that!

I was dreading the new phone, but it HAS to be installed in 2 weeks, so I agreed to have it yesterday.  I still don't see why the powers that be think taking away something that is so easy to use and replacing it with something that takes more time to use is a good thing!

Next week I might be able to venture away from the front desk and get some other jobs done.  I think that is going to be the best part of having Natasha there.  Not only will I be getting my breaks, but I can do other things that I couldn't do before because I was "tied" to the front desk.

I am the only one out of bed at the moment (just me and the dogs), so I think I might go and have another play with the layout I have on my desk at the moment.

And talking of scrapping - I got the most gorgeous RAK in the mail yesterday,  from Julie at Scrap Therapy.  I won it for doing one of the challenges at Scrap Therapy!  Luckily it was in plastic, as our letter box gets full of water when the rain comes a certain way and you guessed it, it was coming that certain way yesterday!

So hopefully, next post I will have some scrappy creation/s to share.

'Til next time. x

Hello Blog land!

Hello!  Long time no blog!

There has been a "will I, won't I" discussion re blogging on the forum at Scrap Therapy, and I remembered I had a long neglected blog, so thought I might resurrect it.   I have just done one post, which I seem to have lost, so hopefully, second time lucky.

As you can imagine, a lot has happened since I last blogged.  We still love Tasmania - I now have a job, which has seriously curtailed my scrapping time.  I did go off it for a bit, or perhaps just wasn't inspired, but I have been following Scrap Therapy again and have been having a go at their sketches, and challenges and loving it.

I plan on going to Cairns in October and the lovely Lee-Anne and Danny from Scrap Therapy are going to put on a mini retreat.  Nerida and I will be there with bells on!  I decided to forgo scrappy camp down here for a trip to Cairns.  It was a hard decision, as I do love scrappy camp, but I think I needed to go and see Nerida more.  And a mini retreat just seals the deal!  Besides which, there will be another scrappy camp in March and Nerida is going to come down for it!

We have had lots of visitors since our move down here, and it has been wonderful to show them around our beautiful adopted State.  Honestly, even now, there is hardly a day goes by that I am not "gob smacked" at something I see.  It may just be the way the light shines on something, or something I haven't noticed before, but I love it.  I love my drive to work every day along the sea front and to see the sea in all it's moods.  It is especially gorgeous when the sun is shining and everything sparkles!

Now to see if I can post some of my scrappy creations.  I will start with a layout I have done for the August Sketch Challenge at Scrap Therapy.   http://www.scraptherapy.com.au/index.php
Oh yay!  Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise to have lost my first post, as everything is where it should be!
This is a photo of Livvie when she was about 3.  I think it is a cute photo, and I loved the sketch and am quite happy with the layout.  I used Glitz Pretty in Pink paper - love that range!  I bought a second lot of papers from it.

Ok, that's it for now.  Hopefully I will be a better blogger from now on.
